Triumph Sports Events
With over 15 years experience between them competing, watching, helping and delivering multisport events Jim and Sheila have created Triumph Sports Events. Racking up 1,000’s of volunteer hours developing the London Junior scene both at a club and regional level, they have a wealth of experience and knowledge and hope to bring multisport athletes in London new and exciting challenges in the future.
Their first event was a Junior Duathlon in 2016, and it was so successful that they'll be repeating it in 2017, but even bigger and better!
See the Events page for full details.
With twins in the sport for the last 8 years, Sheila is a stalwart parent who has seen and assisted at a lot of races, as well as taking part in a few herself along the way!
For many years she has performed numerous volunteer roles for Triathlon England London Region, particularly related to juniors, and she is responsible for setting up and leading the very succesful London Region Junior Training Squad for 6 years.
Sheila also performs significant roles within her club Crystal Palace Triathletes, most notably at their flagship triathlon event where she is responsible for the 100+ marshals who ensure that the 1,000+ junior and senior athletes have a safe and exciting experience.
Sheila received national recognition for this contribution to the sport by being awarded the coveted British Triathlon Volunteer of the Year 2014, and has continued with the good work since.
Her ethos is ‘small efforts and improvements make big differences when added up’ and believes when it comes to events…. that’s whether you are taking part or organising them!
Jim has been participating and organising sporting events for longer than he cares to remember, and will be using that experience with Triumph through continuing to develop sporting opportunites for all.
He's one of the founders of parkrun being instrumental in the establishment of the phenomenon, and has been on the members Board throughout.
Jim has been instrumental in the development of the London Region Junior scene and through his energy, enthusiam and professionalism the junior participation levels and opportunities have never been greater. Among his most celebrated achievements are the quality of the Junior Series that is delivered with unprecented speed, clarity and accuracy. Jim also launched the annual Inter-Regional Duathlon in 2014.
He's a BTF Level 2 coach and regular at the London Region Training Squad sessions, a parent of a couple of children who are very active in the sport, and still manages to slip in the occasional marathon himself as he strives to maintain respectable times.
Triumph have the edge when organising junior events by having two enthusiastic advisors.
Kieran and Harry have both being competing since the youngest age-groups (there can be very few who have raced more events over the years than they have), and they combine this experience with their dynamism to ensure that Triumph juniors events are perfect for all the young participants.
